About This Blog

This blog/website is a work in progress.  It is the creation of Jennifer Schlick, also known on-line as WinterWoman.  It is not official or sanctioned by Chautauqua County.  A link to the official Parks website is offered on the right side of the page under “Blogroll”.

Of course I will make every effort to provide accurate information.  Should you find any mistakes, please let me know by leaving a reply on this page.

Thanks!

I just wanted to let you know that I was very pleased to come across your blog on the Luensman overlook on the web. I’m the youngest nephew of John Luensman and was very excited that someone put so much time into sharing the details of our cherished overlook on the web. Being so young and living in Maryland, I didn’t see my uncle a lot before he past, but I’m glad his love for the outdoors lives on.

He would hold his famous “start of musky season” party every year so family and friends would start fishing the minute the season started on lake chautauqua. They would gather at the lake house he built and wait til midnight to start the season the first hour it was opened. From birds, to large animals, to even flowers my uncle loved the outdoors. I’m pretty sure to this day some of the flowers planted below the Luensman overlook sign are from some of his bulbs. Please, keep up the great work with your site. If you have any panaramic or other good photos from Luensman overlook I would love to have them. Thank you.
